Japan director, animator dies at 82

Veteran Japanese director and animation director, Isao Takahata, dies at 82.

Veteran Japanese director and animator Isao Takahata has died at the age of 82.

Born on October 29, 1935, Isao Takahata was a Japanese director, screenwriter and producer.

He also co-founded the Japanese Studio Ghibli.

The director had been suffering lung cancer and demised of it at a Tokyo hospital at the age of 82.

Takahata gained critical international acclaim for his work as a director of anime films.

The late director's 'The Tale of the Princess Kaguya' won him an academy award nomination for Best Animated Feature Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

Iranian kids of 80s and 90s would also remember him by his works of art such as 'Heidi, Girl of the Alps' and 'Anne of Green Gables'.
